Bayonetta vs Zelda

Zelda Matchup (Bayonetta)

Bayonetta vs Zelda

Bayonetta vs Zelda is about getting above Zelda before Phantom and Din's Fire are fully established, then baiting Nayru's Love and Farore's Wind before committing to juggle pressure.

Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)

Bayonetta vs Zelda is decided by whether Zelda gets time to build her defensive spell flow. If that setup appears freely, Bayonetta has to force much riskier entries. The answer is not to throw raw After Burner Kick straight through the front every time. Bayonetta wants to vary jump timing and drift, get above the setup angle, and hit the space Zelda retreats into. Once Bayonetta gets the first opening, the better reward comes from juggling and repeated landing traps, because Zelda is not built to hold long close-range scrambles without spending a panic option. Nayru’s Love and Farore’s Wind must be baited before the real commitment, so patience after the first approach matters more here than in many other Bayonetta matchups.

Win Condition Checklist

  • Do not dash in the moment Phantom appears; use air drift and delayed movement to attack the setup or retreat angle from above
  • Take the guaranteed punishes on Jab, Up Tilt, Dash Attack, smashes, and close Din’s Fire blocks with Up B or Fair when available
  • After launching Zelda, keep watching for spot-dodge landings and Farore’s Wind escapes so Uair and Bair can extend the juggle
  • At the ledge, threaten Bair and Down Tilt, then catch jump with Witch Twist or Uair to close the stock

Actions to Avoid

  • Forcing After Burner Kick or Fair into an unbaited Nayru’s Love
  • Chasing too hard after a launch and letting Farore’s Wind reverse the position
  • Waiting at long range so often that Zelda gets to rebuild Phantom and Din’s Fire every neutral reset
