Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)
Captain Falcon has explosive dash and aerial burst, but once he is forced to defend, his landing and reversal options are much less stable.
Falco’s stable plan is to slow the first approach with laser, then start the matchup on his terms with Up Tilt, Neutral Air, or grab and keep the juggle going with Up Air.
On shield, the jab string, Forward Tilt, Down Tilt, Dash Attack, Forward Smash, Forward Air, Side B (1), and Down B are all punishable enough that Falco does not need to force scrambles.
By contrast, Neutral Air, Back Air, Up Air, Down Air, and the later parts of Up Smash are usually better answered by tracking Falcon’s landing or dash-out rather than swinging immediately.
Because Falco dies early near the ledge, he should value center stage and ledge trapping more than deep offstage chases.

Actions to Avoid
- Shooting laser and then backing off so far that Falcon gets another free full-speed entry
- Mashing after blocked
Neutral AirorBack Airwhen there is no clean punish - Letting Falcon land for free after winning the first anti-air interaction
- Overchasing offstage and giving Falcon a chance to reverse the stock with ledge pressure on Falco
