Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)
This matchup swings hard when Ike lands neutral air, back air, down tilt, or dash attack, because one touch often becomes a high-damage juggle and ledge sequence, but Falco can interrupt Ike’s slow walking and jumping with Blaster and force the first vertical opening.
As the table shows, Jab 1-3, all tilts, dash attack, all smashes, forward air, back air, down air, Neutral B, Side B, and Up B all lose to Falco’s OOS Nair (6f) or Up Smash (7f), so any grounded commitment Ike puts on shield can be turned directly into uptilt, fair, and uair followups.
By contrast, neutral air and up air are not reliable immediate punishes on shield, and even back air becomes awkward if spaced low and far enough, so the important choice after blocking is to track the landing and drift instead of forcing a button right away.
For kills, it is more repeatable to keep the juggle going into uair, ledge bair, and up smash on jump or landing than to chase far offstage and expose Falco’s own weaker recovery.

Win Condition Checklist
- Do not fire Blaster only to retreat. Once it checks Ike’s walk or short hop, move forward and steer him into the height where uptilt and nair start Falco’s real advantage.
- After shielding Jab 1-3, any tilt, dash attack, any smash, forward air, back air, down air, Neutral B, Side B, or Up B, punish with OOS Nair (6f) or Up Smash (7f) and extend into uair landing traps instead of taking a single hit and resetting.
- After blocking neutral air or up air, avoid immediate retaliation and dash under the landing path so the second touch comes from uptilt or fair.
- Once Ike is above you, push him to ledge early, force air dodge with uair pressure, and then narrow jump from ledge with bair and up smash.
- Ike’s recovery path through Side B and Up B is linear enough that you do not need deep edgeguards. Stay ready to punish the ledge option or the Up B landing instead.
Actions to Avoid
- Repeating Blaster at a fixed rhythm and letting Ike jump over it into neutral air or back air for free midrange control.
- Swinging every time you block neutral air or up air, whiffing in place, and then losing the turn to the next landing back air or down tilt.
- Letting punishable grounded options go unpunished and giving up guaranteed answers to forward tilt, dash attack, or Side B.
- Chasing too far offstage for the kill and exposing Falco’s narrow recovery to Aether hitboxes or the recovery mixup afterward.
