Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)
Mii Gunner wants to block King K. Rool’s Jab 1-3, tilts, Dash Attack, smash attacks, Back Air, Up Air, Down Air, Neutral B, and Side B, then answer with Up B (6f), Grab (10f), OOS Nair (11f), or Up Smash (11f) to stop the heavyweight pressure and reset spacing.
King K. Rool still has crown, cannonball, belly armor, and huge single-hit power, but his size and endlag are severe enough that layered zoning punishes him long before he can cash in if Gunner keeps his route predictable.
The table shows punish windows on K. Rool’s jab string, tilts, Dash Attack, every smash attack, cannonball, and crown, so Gunner should not end the sequence after one projectile and should instead stack the next shot or anti-air before K. Rool can walk forward again.
For kills, Gunner should not rely only on a long-range snipe and should instead exploit the slow Propellerpack landing and ledge recovery with Up Smash, Up B, and Fair before K. Rool’s weight drags the stock too long.

Win Condition Checklist
- After Mii Gunner blocks King K. Rool’s Jab 1-3, tilts, Dash Attack, smash attacks, Back Air, Up Air, Down Air, Neutral B, or Side B, punish immediately with Up B (6f), Grab (10f), OOS Nair (11f), or Up Smash (11f).
- Do not settle for trading only crown and cannonball; once K. Rool stops, layer the next projectile, Fair, or Up Smash so the advance never restarts cleanly.
- Avoid taking the belly armor contest straight on when it is not necessary; control the jump height and the retreat lane first, then hit the body.
- At the ledge, cover Propellerpack landing and normal getup at the same time, and keep Up B, Up Smash, and Fair ready for the exact landing point.
Actions to Avoid
- Backing up passively because of crown and cannonball and letting K. Rool build an armored approach for free.
- Respecting belly armor so much that Mii Gunner stops contesting space and drifts into a losing long stock against a super-heavy.
- Letting Propellerpack land uncontested and giving K. Rool a clean reset back to center.
- Scrambling at point-blank range for too long and feeding K. Rool’s grab and heavy aerial reward.
