Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)
Corrin’s long fair, uair, and side-B create a difficult wall for Piranha Plant’s limited ground mobility, and Corrin’s juggle game also controls the space directly above Plant very well. If Plant tries to force big grounded swings through sword range, Corrin usually gets the first clean stop and carries that into ledge pressure.
Still, Plant is excellent at controlling upward space and making ledge situations miserable. Once Ptooie, Poison Breath, up smash, and fair narrow Corrin’s approach angles, Corrin becomes much easier to pin down, and Corrin’s linear recovery starts to matter a lot more.
The win condition is to avoid forcing scrambles in center stage, use ball and poison to narrow jump and landing paths, and then push Corrin to ledge. Corrin is strongest when the sword tip stays active in neutral, but once forced offstage, the recovery route is direct enough for Plant to stack pressure with fair, falling Ptooie, and charged down-B threats.

Win Condition Checklist
- In center stage, do not dash in first; use Ptooie and Poison Breath to narrow Corrin’s jump and forward approach lanes
- Use up smash and fair as the main anti-air tools, and do not challenge repeated fair or uair resets from directly above
- Once Corrin is cornered, show falling Ptooie, fair, and down-B charge to lock the recovery route into something readable
- After getting pressured at close range, reset with shield discipline and landing denial instead of forcing a panic scramble back immediately
Actions to Avoid
- Throwing out large f-smash or down-B attempts from outside Corrin’s threat range and getting stuffed by fair or side-B
- Advancing too far behind a high Ptooie and letting Corrin land first into a whiff punish
- Chasing too deep offstage and giving up a clean, safe recovery path back to stage
