Piranha Plant vs Peach

Peach Matchup (Piranha Plant)

Piranha Plant vs Peach

Piranha Plant vs Peach is decided by whether Plant can stop chasing under float, pin the landing zones with Ptooie and Poison Breath, and turn Peach's weak vertical recovery into stocks.

Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)

Peach can stall the front with low float and turnips, then move from neutral air, forward air, or grab into long combo routes and ledge pressure. If Piranha Plant keeps chasing directly under the float or commits first in front, Peach gets exactly the layered scramble she wants.
The stable answer is to stop following the drift line and start owning the landing line. Ptooie and Up Smash both line up well with Peach’s float height, while Poison Breath makes the grounded retreat and turnip pull more expensive. Once Peach is forced to land or drift toward the ledge, Plant gets a much cleaner game than in open center-stage scrambles.
The table shows reliable punishes on Jab 1, Jab 2, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Dash Attack, every smash attack, and Side B, where Grab, OOS Uair, OOS Fair, OOS Nair, Up Smash, and Up B can all cash out on grounded overextensions and Peach Bomber pressure.
Neutral Air, Forward Air, Back Air, Up Air, and Down Air are still too safe to contest automatically. It is stronger to save the swing, cover the float end point with Ptooie or Up Smash, and then push the stock offstage where Peach’s vertical recovery is much thinner than her horizontal drift.

Win Condition Checklist

  • Do not chase directly under low float. Keep Ptooie above Plant to lock the float height, and use Poison Breath to squeeze the grounded retreat and turnip pull.
  • After blocking Jab 1, Jab 2, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Dash Attack, any smash attack, or Side B, answer immediately with Grab, OOS Uair, OOS Fair, OOS Nair, Up Smash, or Up B.
  • After blocking neutral air, forward air, back air, up air, or down air, do not mash. Cover the float end point or landing position with Up Smash or the next Ptooie instead.
  • Treat kills as a ledge and offstage problem. Use Ptooie, fair, Up B, and Up Smash once Peach is forced into the weaker vertical part of the recovery.
  • Even when Peach has a turnip at high percent, keep center stage first and punish the next float route instead of panic-jumping into her air control.

Actions to Avoid

  • Running under low float every time and letting Peach start the whole pressure tree from neutral air or forward air.
  • Trying to punish every blocked aerial and giving Peach a free whiff punish into another landing trap.
  • Freezing every time Peach pulls a turnip and giving her all the time she needs to choose the float height and drift path.
  • Chasing too far horizontally offstage, losing track of Parasol’s height change, and giving away a winning ledge situation.
