Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)
This matchup gets worse for Chrom when he agrees to swing from Corrin’s preferred tipper lane. Corrin’s long sword limbs and Side B make frontal entries awkward, and if Chrom keeps testing that range directly, he risks both losing neutral and getting pushed toward a recovery situation he can barely afford.
Chrom should use Dash, Down Tilt, and Nair entries to get inside the stop before or after Corrin’s tipper timing rather than trying to out-space the spacing character. Once inside, the matchup improves quickly because Corrin’s close-range defense is less overwhelming and Chrom can convert one touch into repeated landing and ledge pressure.
The frame table shows Jab 1-3, Rapid Jab Finisher, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Down Tilt, Dash Attack, every smash attack, Back Air, and Down Air are punishable on shield with OOS Uair (8f), OOS Nair (9f), Grab (10f), and Up B (10f). By contrast, Nair, Fair, Uair, Side B (1), and Neutral B do not stop cleanly enough for stable immediate punishes, so Chrom should take the drift and landing route instead.
Kills are more repeatable from close confirms into Up B, landing-trap Up Smash, and ledge Bair than from reckless offstage chases. Chrom gets more by keeping Corrin cornered onstage than by gambling his own weak recovery to finish the stock outside.

Win Condition Checklist
- Use Dash, Down Tilt, and Nair to enter before or after Corrin’s tipper timing instead of standing in the lance range and trading there.
- After blocking Jab 1-3, Rapid Jab Finisher, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Down Tilt, Dash Attack, any smash attack, Back Air, or Down Air, take the listed punish with OOS Uair (8f), OOS Nair (9f), Grab (10f), or Up B (10f).
- Do not force immediate shield punishes on Nair, Fair, Uair, Side B (1), or Neutral B. Track the pullback and landing route, then hit the second beat.
- Build kills through close confirms into Up B, landing-trap Up Smash, and ledge Bair rather than deep offstage commitments.
- Once inside, keep pressing landing and ledge pressure instead of resetting the matchup back to Corrin’s preferred spacing lane.
Actions to Avoid
- Standing in Corrin’s preferred tipper lane and trying to win the spacing war from equal distance.
- Autopiloting out-of-shield punishes on Nair, Fair, Uair, Side B (1), or Neutral B when the move has not really stopped.
- Chasing too deep offstage and turning Chrom’s own recovery weakness into the deciding factor.
- Giving up landing and ledge pressure too early after finally getting inside.
