Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)
Falco wants to stop movement with laser, force Dark Samus upward, and then turn one anti-air into a long vertical chase with up tilt, nair, fair, and uair. If Dark Samus answers every laser by jumping high or fires Charge Shot on autopilot in front of Reflector, the matchup quickly shifts into exactly the kind of vertical scramble Falco wants.
Dark Samus does better by varying the tempo with quick missiles, drift changes, and grounded patience so Falco has to commit to a jump lane first. Once Falco picks that angle, fair, uair, grab, and up smash become much more reliable answers than simply waiting on one big projectile.
The table shows Jab, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Dash Attack, every smash attack, Blaster, Fire Bird, and Reflector are all punishable on shield by Up B, OOS Uair, OOS Fair, Grab, or Up Smash. By contrast, nair, uair, and dair mostly only give Up B, while fair and bair still have limited answers, so Dark Samus gets more from reading the landing than from forcing every instant punish.
Stocks are most repeatable when Dark Samus pushes Falco to ledge, pre-covers the recovery angle, and then closes with fair, Charge Shot, or up smash. The goal is not to stop shooting forever because of Reflector. It is to make the projectile threat shape Falco’s route, then hit the route itself.

Win Condition Checklist
- Mix missile timing, drift, and grounded movement so Falco has to declare the jump lane before Dark Samus commits to the anti-air.
- Do not answer every laser with a high jump. Stay low, shift the spacing, and make fair, uair, grab, and up smash cover the next entry.
- After blocking Jab, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Dash Attack, any smash attack, Blaster, Fire Bird, or Reflector, take the listed punish with Up B, OOS Uair, OOS Fair, Grab, or Up Smash.
- After blocking nair, fair, bair, uair, or dair, judge whether the immediate punish is real. If it is not, track the re-landing and the next jump instead.
- Build kills around ledge control and recovery coverage with fair, Charge Shot, and up smash rather than around center-stage projectile gambling.
Actions to Avoid
- Jumping high on autopilot after laser and handing Falco the anti-air route he wants.
- Firing obvious Charge Shots directly into Reflector and losing both stage and momentum in one read.
- Treating every blocked aerial as a guaranteed scramble win when the frame data only gives a narrow answer.
- Overchasing offstage and letting Falco’s recovery mix or reversal hand back center stage.
