Ganondorf vs Dark Pit

Dark Pit Matchup (Ganondorf)

Ganondorf vs Dark Pit

Ganondorf vs. Dark Pit is most realistic when you avoid trading directly with safe aerials and arrows, then turn a single punish into a full ledge sequence and a stock finish.

Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)

Dark Pit’s back air, down air, and arrows are safe and can slow your approach, but Ganondorf’s punish damage after stopping jab, tilts, dash attack, and similar options is overwhelming, so one winning read still matters a lot.
Rather than chasing him endlessly and losing to the mobility gap, place neutral air, back air, and down tilt where he wants to land or advance, then only step in when he has to stop to fire arrows.
For kills, it is more stable to route the stock through the ledge with forward air or up smash on jump get-up and roll get-up than to fish for a huge center-stage smash.

Win Condition Checklist

  • When you see arrows, do not jump immediately; walk forward with shield and build a range where neutral air and down tilt can reach.
  • After blocking jab, tilts, dash attack, or down tilt, answer with grab or a strong aerial and continue the chase to the landing point.
  • Once the opponent is cornered, do not overchase; place a hitbox on the recovery head-out or jump get-up and close the stock in one clean sequence.

Actions to Avoid

  • Showing side B or Warlock Punch too often at midrange and becoming an easy target for arrows and retreating movement.
  • Holding shield too long because you fear back air, then surrendering grab and landing punish opportunities.
  • Trying to finish the edgeguard too deeply and getting caught by a reversal from the flying recovery.
