Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)

The flow of this matchup is decided by whether Wii Fit Trainer gets clean time for Deep Breathing and Sun Salutation, or whether Link narrows her landing routes first with walking shield and projectiles.
Wii Fit Trainer’s fair, bair, and uair all start quickly, and Header gives her another strong diagonal threat, so careless high fair or nair placements from Link can get low-profiled or jumped around and then punished on the way back in.
At the same time, the table shows jab 1, jab 2, jab 3, every tilt, dash attack, every smash attack, neutral B, and side B are all punishable by Up B or stronger OOS follow-ups, while close bair and dair also lose to Up B. It is more stable to shut down the grounded buttons and buff attempts every time than to force a punish on shallow fair or uair that are still safe.
The stock-closing plan is to break up Deep Breathing and Sun Salutation with boomerang and bomb, then keep bomb at ledge so Link can cover the Up B rise and vulnerable ledge grab with fair, up smash, and Up B instead of overchasing offstage.

Win Condition Checklist

  • Even from long range, do not stand still and give setup time. Mix boomerang, arrow, and walking shield to keep Deep Breathing and Sun Salutation from becoming free.
  • After blocking jab 1, jab 2, jab 3, any tilt, dash attack, any smash attack, neutral B, or side B, punish reliably with Up B, OOS Bair, Grab, OOS Nair, or Up Smash so close-range contact never resets for free.
  • Because fair and uair are usually too safe for an in-place punish, reset with a small retreat or jump, then put sword range or bomb onto the next landing instead of swinging immediately.
  • Once Deep Breathing is active, do not brawl for trades. Spend the buff timer with shield and projectiles and refuse to eat boosted bair, throw, or Sun Salutation.
  • At the ledge, leave bomb onstage, prioritize the rising recovery and ledge grab, and finish from the range where fair, up smash, and Up B still reach instead of diving too deep.

Actions to Avoid

  • Pulling bomb or waiting passively at long range and letting Deep Breathing or Sun Salutation complete without contest.
  • Pre-placing high fair or nair into Wii Fit Trainer’s low-profile spacing and giving bair or a second approach the clean whiff punish.
  • Throwing out Up B or Grab after every blocked fair, uair, or shallow nair and handing over the next landing trap when the punish never reaches.
  • Chasing too far offstage into meteor or Header threat and turning Link’s weaker recovery into the real losing condition.
