Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)
Pyra hits extremely hard once she connects, but her movement and startup are heavy enough that she does not like being forced to swing into prepared spacing. Lucas should avoid turning this into a close-range slugfest. The stable plan is to stay just outside Pyra’s preferred sword range with Fair, F-tilt, D-tilt, and tether threat, then punish the larger commitments from Fair, Bair, Side B, and smash attacks.
The win condition is to keep the matchup in a midrange control state, push Pyra into the air, and keep shrinking her landing and ledge options with Uair, Fair, and ledgetrap coverage. Pyra’s recovery and landing are both vulnerable enough that Lucas does not need to fish for a single hard read every stock. If Lucas keeps recycling juggle and ledge pressure, Pyra eventually has to pick a predictable route. What Lucas cannot afford is repeated close-range shield guessing where Pyra’s damage and kill power swing the exchange too hard.

Win Condition Checklist
- Hold a spacing band where Fair, F-tilt, and D-tilt touch first and Pyra has to commit before reaching you
- Take every real punish on blocked Up B, smash attacks, and the end of jab strings so Pyra pays for heavy buttons
- After launching her, use Uair and Fair to cover the obvious landing lanes instead of giving free resets to center stage
- At the ledge, mix PK Freeze with Fair, Bair, and patient ledge coverage so your edgeguard timing stays hard to read
- Stay patient on kills and keep re-winning neutral through landing traps and corner pressure
Actions to Avoid
- Forcing close grab or scramble situations into a shielding Pyra and taking losing damage trades
- Relying only on PK Freeze or PK Thunder for edgeguards until the route becomes obvious
- Jumping in early and running into pre-placed Bair or Side B instead of making Pyra commit first
- Chasing too deep offstage after winning the ledge and giving up your own safe positioning
