Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)
This matchup gets awkward when Mega Man runs his normal projectile rhythm without adjustment, because Isabelle can turn Pocket into a tempo swing instead of just a defensive answer. Mega Man still wants projectiles, but he cannot hand them over predictably. The order and timing of pellets, Metal Blade, and Crash Bomber need to serve Isabelle’s movement, not Pocket alone.
The frame table shows jab, ftilt, utilt, dtilt, dash attack, and every smash attack are all punishable with OOS Bair (7f), Up Smash (8f), Grab (10f), or OOS Nair (10f). By contrast, Isabelle’s aerials and most setup actions are not clean in-place shield punishes. Mega Man should take the grounded commitments when they appear, then shift immediately back into anti-air and landing control.
Isabelle’s close defense and out-of-shield game are weaker than her setup control, so the real win condition is to keep pressing her body before the trap layer is fully rebuilt. Up Smash, bair, and utilt matter more than trying to out-pocket the pocket matchup.
The win condition is not raw projectile count. It is making Isabelle move first, covering the jump or retreat with anti-air pressure, and refusing to let her rebuild ledge control for free.

- Once Isabelle is pushed back, cover the return path with projectiles so she cannot rebuild the trap line before you challenge again.
- At the ledge, watch for Lloid setup and Fishing Rod space early, before they fully dictate the corner.
