Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)

Mii Gunner cannot mindlessly feed strong straight projectiles here, because Isabelle’s Pocket plus Fishing Rod threat makes that pace profitable for her, so the matchup starts with varying height and timing until Isabelle herself is forced to move before the trap game is built. The table shows that after blocking Isabelle’s Jab, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Down Tilt, Dash Attack, smash attacks, and Forward Air, Mii Gunner can answer with Up B (6f), Grab (10f), OOS Nair (11f), Up Smash (11f), and OOS Bair (12f), so the rare close-range openings need to be converted every time. At the same time, Isabelle’s Neutral Air, Back Air, Up Air, and Down Air are hard to punish immediately on block, and Side B plus Down B are not solved just by sitting in shield, so staying planted at rod-and-trap range is the wrong trade. Mii Gunner should finish stocks by pushing Isabelle to the ledge and using Up Smash, Fair, and Up B before Fishing Rod and trap placement can rebuild the corner sequence in Isabelle’s favor.

Win Condition Checklist

  • Mii Gunner should not repeat the same valuable projectile on one lane; vary timing and height so Pocket is less rewarding and Isabelle has to reposition first.
  • After Mii Gunner blocks Isabelle’s Jab, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Down Tilt, Dash Attack, smash attacks, or Forward Air, immediately choose the reachable punish from Up B (6f), Grab (10f), OOS Nair (11f), Up Smash (11f), and OOS Bair (12f).
  • After blocking Isabelle’s Neutral Air, Back Air, Up Air, or Down Air, Mii Gunner should not mash back and should instead shift the trap location, rod spacing, and retreat lane while holding center stage.
  • Once Isabelle is cornered, Mii Gunner should avoid overchasing and keep Up Smash, Fair, and Up B ready so Isabelle cannot freely rebuild the ledge setup with Fishing Rod and trap.

Actions to Avoid

  • Feeding Pocket with obvious high-value projectiles and letting Isabelle threaten both stored ammo and Fishing Rod at once.
  • Blocking Isabelle’s close-range buttons and still giving up the punish window instead of using Up B (6f) or Up Smash (11f).
  • Standing at the exact midrange where Fishing Rod and trap both cover the retreat without first forcing Isabelle herself to move.
  • Overcommitting at the ledge, losing stage position, and giving Isabelle the chance to restart the trap-heavy corner flow on her terms.
