Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)
Lucas wants to pin Ridley’s large body with forward tilt, fair, zair, and PK Fire, but once Ridley makes those midrange pokes miss, Lucas does not enjoy the close-range scramble nearly as much as Ridley enjoys carrying him outward. The key route is to show fireball often enough to freeze jump and shield timings, then punish the pause with fair, bair, or grab and push straight to the ledge. Jab strings, up tilt, dash attack, smash attacks, down air, side B, and up B (2) all give Ridley meaningful shield punishes, so it is stronger to cash in on those committed buttons than to brawl into every safe tipper poke. Offstage, though, Lucas can flip the stock with PK Freeze and PK Thunder very quickly, so Ridley should prefer stable ledge trapping and varied high recoveries over reckless chase sequences.

Win Condition Checklist
- Use fireball to lock Lucas into shield or jump timing, then hit the forced stop with fair or grab and carry outward
- After shielding jab 1-3, up tilt, dash attack, smash attacks, down air, side B, or up B (2), take the guaranteed grab, nair, or up smash punish
- Do not challenge the tip of forward tilt, fair, or zair head-on; make them miss first with retreat timing and then swing back with your longer aerials
- At the ledge, stay patient and cover jump-out plus high recoveries with bair or up tilt rather than forcing deep edgeguards
- At kill percent, end the stock through continued ledge pressure and outward carry instead of repeated center-stage resets
Actions to Avoid
- Starting neutral directly into Lucas’s tippered forward tilt or fair with Ridley’s large hurtbox
- Panicking at PK Fire or PK Freeze and choosing the same jump recovery timing over and over
- Letting punishable jab pressure, dash attack, or side B go unchecked and giving Lucas another full spacing reset
- Chasing too far offstage and getting reversed by PK Thunder tackle or preemptive back air
- Giving up advantage after the first opening and repeatedly returning to the part of neutral where Ridley’s size hurts most
