Roy vs Peach

Peach Matchup (Roy)

Roy vs Peach

Roy vs Peach is most stable when you run underneath float and turnip pressure instead of fencing at tip range, force sweetspot contact up close, and convert the ledge before Peach can drift back out.

Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)

Roy loses too much value if he fences Peach at sword tip, because low float and turnips can slow that pace down, so the matchup starts with running under the float path and forcing close-range sweetspot hits from Jab, Nair, Ftilt, or Dash Attack. The table shows that after blocking Peach’s Jab 1, Jab 2, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Dash Attack, smash attacks, and Side B (1) or (2), Roy can answer with OOS Uair (8f), OOS Nair (9f), Up B (9f), Grab (10f), and OOS Bair (11f), so grounded interrupts should be punished every time. At the same time, Peach’s Neutral Air, Back Air, Up Air, and Down Air are difficult to punish immediately on block, and swinging back there is worse than simply staying underneath and catching the float exit or landing. Roy should close stocks by carrying Peach to the ledge and layering Fair, Ftilt, Up Smash, and Up B, turning the corner into the finish before Peach can reset with more float drift or another turnip pull.

Win Condition Checklist

  • Roy should not challenge low float head-on at tip range; run underneath, stay in Peach’s landing path, and force sweetspot Jab, Nair, Ftilt, or Dash Attack up close.
  • After Roy blocks Peach’s Jab 1, Jab 2, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Dash Attack, smash attacks, or Side B (1) or (2), immediately choose the reachable punish from OOS Uair (8f), OOS Nair (9f), Up B (9f), Grab (10f), and OOS Bair (11f).
  • After blocking Peach’s Neutral Air, Back Air, Up Air, or Down Air, Roy should not mash back and should instead hold the space under Peach and track the float exit or landing.
  • Once Peach is at the ledge, Roy should avoid overchasing offstage and keep Fair, Ftilt, Up Smash, and Up B ready before Peach can pull turnip or drift back to safety.

Actions to Avoid

  • Repeating tip-range swings into low float and letting Peach play the entire midrange with drift plus turnip support.
  • Blocking Peach’s grounded starters or Side B and still giving away Roy’s fast punish window.
  • Chasing Peach too high in the air and losing the grounded control that actually catches float landings.
  • Overextending offstage, exposing Roy’s weak recovery, and turning a winning ledge trap into a risky scramble.
