Sephiroth vs Fox

Fox Matchup (Sephiroth)

Sephiroth vs Fox

Sephiroth vs. Fox is most stable when you keep the Masamune tip active to make Fox’s fast entry narrower, then finish with a single ledge-side punish that exploits his light weight.

Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)

Fox can start a run with jab strings, up tilt, and dash attack, but his jab 1, jab 2, forward tilt, up tilt, down tilt, dash attack, and forward smash are easier to punish on shield, so once Sephiroth settles the pace he can push back.
If Blaster makes Fox stop, do not rush forward; use forward air, back air, and side B to build a wall at tip range and cut off dash-in options themselves.
For kills, it is more stable to stop focusing on center-stage scrambles and instead stack One-Winged pressure and long back air on a Fox that has already been sent offstage.

Win Condition Checklist

  • Hold tip range and stop dash-in or short-hop movement with forward air.
  • Do not let the shield game drag on once you know the up-B punish window; after you connect, send him straight to the ledge.
  • At the ledge, lock down escape routes first and concentrate on the single kill that exploits his light weight.

Actions to Avoid

  • Do not stay in close-range micro-neutral for too long and lose the exchange count to up tilt and up air.
  • Do not keep throwing out large swings that miss tip range and hand over the punish starter.
  • Do not overchase offstage and expose your own lightness, because that gives Fox the chance to turn it around with up B.
