Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)
If you challenge R.O.B. head-on, Gyro and Robo Beam stop Sora’s slow ground approach, and Fair, Uair, plus Nair can turn that into long landing traps and ledge pressure.
Sora needs to use his floaty drift to move above or around those projectile lines, then start pressure with Firaga, Nair, Fair, and Uair so R.O.B.’s large hurtbox keeps getting clipped on the way down.
Shield punishes are not for every aerial here: Fair and Bair are usually too safe, but blocked Uair, Forward Tilt, Dash Attack, smash attacks, and Arm Rotor are clear moments for Up B or aerial OOS.
For kills, do not force the high chase first; denying Gyro control at the ledge and hitting the sideways drift after Robo Burner is the more repeatable route.

Win Condition Checklist
- Do not stand in one lane against Robo Beam and Gyro; shift the axis with short walks, air drift, and timely Firaga before taking space with Fair.
- When Nair, Fair, or Uair starts a juggle on R.O.B., keep tracking the landing instead of cashing out early, because his size makes repeat catches realistic.
- Punish blocked Uair, Dash Attack, Forward Tilt, Arm Rotor, and smash attacks with Up B or fast aerial OOS so R.O.B. cannot loop safe anti-airs forever.
- When Gyro is loose, pick it up or kick it away before rushing the ledge so R.O.B. loses the setup that narrows your getup routes.
- At kill percent, watch the end of Robo Burner drift and Bair recovery timing, then cover the ledge or offstage line with Bair rather than overcommitting deep.
Actions to Avoid
- Do not keep dashing on the ground through low Gyro and Robo Beam lines, because that feeds Down Tilt, grab, and Nair starters.
- Do not repeat the same air dodge or Dair landing every time you are juggled; R.O.B. will keep Uair and Up Smash ready underneath.
- Do not swing automatic OOS after every blocked Fair or Bair when the punish does not reach.
- Do not hurry a ledge getup while Gyro is still active, or you give R.O.B. a much easier Fair or Dair edgeguard sequence.
