Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)
This matchup is decided by whether Mr. Game & Watch gets to turn every blocked situation into an Up B escape and another up air landing trap, or whether Wii Fit Trainer pushes him back far enough that those resets stop being free.
Mr. Game & Watch’s 3f Up B, light weight, and fast follow-up pressure make him very good at turning defense into offense, and Bucket adds extra risk to careless Sun Salutation use. But his horizontal range and weight are still limited, so if Wii Fit Trainer keeps the exchange grounded and spaced, forward tilt, bair, and retreating movement can still keep him out.
The frame table shows that Rapid Jab Finisher, Jab, Forward Tilt, Down Tilt, Dash Attack, Forward Smash, Down Smash, Back Air, Down Air, and Neutral B all lose to Up B (6f), OOS Bair (8f), OOS Uair (9f), Grab (10f), or Up Smash (11f). Down tilt, dash attack, bair, Chef, and down smash in particular should be punished every time so Mr. Game & Watch cannot drift into close range for free.
By contrast, Neutral Air, Forward Air, Up Air, and the Up B body itself are not stable immediate punish spots. Swinging there usually feeds back into another escape or landing trap. Sun Salutation is also a resource to ration here, not spam, because giving Bucket charge changes the whole risk profile. It is usually better to walk, shield, move space with Header, and hit the landing or dodge after the escape instead.
For kills, ledge control is much more reliable than deep edgeguards. Stack bair, up smash, and Deep Breathing-enhanced aerial coverage over jump and neutral getup, and even if Up B gets him out once, stay ready to win the next landing rather than resetting the whole exchange.

Win Condition Checklist
- Do not overcharge Bucket. Use Sun Salutation selectively and rely more on walk-shield, Header, forward tilt, and bair to push Mr. Game & Watch back.
- Punish Rapid Jab Finisher, Jab, Forward Tilt, Down Tilt, Dash Attack, Forward Smash, Down Smash, Back Air, Down Air, and Neutral B with Up B (6f), OOS Bair (8f), OOS Uair (9f), Grab (10f), or Up Smash (11f) whenever they hit shield.
- Do not force immediate retaliation on Neutral Air, Forward Air, Up Air, or the Up B body; cover the landing or air dodge after the escape instead.
- Once Mr. Game & Watch is airborne, keep tracking the next descent so his Up B reset does not fully disengage the situation.
- Finish stocks at ledge with bair, up smash, and Deep Breathing-enhanced aerials covering jump and neutral getup routes.
Actions to Avoid
- Do not feed Bucket by throwing Sun Salutation on autopilot.
- Do not let Up B escapes fully reset neutral without contesting the landing that follows.
- Do not mash after safe aerial pressure and hand the exchange back to Mr. Game & Watch’s up air traps.
- Do not chase too deep offstage and give up the cleaner ledge kill structure.
