The matchup turns on whether Cloud can keep center-stage width before Robin slows the game down with Thunder and Arcfire.
Robin’s projectiles and Levin Sword aerials convert into real damage and kills when they land, but Robin’s movement and close-range scramble speed are weaker, and the defense drops once books or Levin Sword are spent.
As the table shows, Jab strings, tilts, dash attack, smash attacks, down air, and Neutral B all give Cloud real answers with Up B (7f) or OOS Nair (8f), while nair, fair, bair, and uair are generally safe and Side B stays plus on shield, so Cloud loses by forcing shield retaliation every time.

Win Condition Checklist

  • Cloud should show Limit Charge in center stage, force Robin to reveal Thunder charge or Arcfire placement first, and start the spacing battle with down tilt, bair, and burst fair.
  • After blocking jab strings, tilts, dash attack, smash attacks, down air, or Neutral B, Cloud should take the guaranteed punish with Up B (7f) or OOS Nair (8f) even while Levin Sword resources are still online.
  • After blocking nair, fair, bair, uair, or Arcfire pressure, Cloud should not mash immediately and should instead place the next bair or up tilt into Robin’s drift-out or landing path.
  • Once Robin is cornered, Cloud should cover jump and standard getup with Back Air, Up Smash, Limit Blade Beam, and Limit Climhazzard while refusing to chase too deep offstage.

Actions to Avoid

  • Swinging with immediate Up B or grab right after blocking Arcfire and losing to the continuing pillar pressure into fair or grab.
  • Repeating Limit Charge from the same midrange spot and letting Robin farm free Thunder charge timing or dash-in punishes.
  • Treating one blocked Levin Sword aerial as a guaranteed punish and getting clipped by drift-back bair or the next landing nair.
  • Chasing too far offstage for a single kill and letting Elwind or a turnaround bair flip the position against Cloud’s weaker recovery.
