Corrin vs Chrom

Chrom Matchup (Corrin)

Corrin vs Chrom

Corrin vs Chrom is won by holding tipper space, punishing the truly unsafe swings, and turning every launch into a landing trap or edgeguard before Chrom's pressure loop starts.

Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)

This matchup gets dangerous if Corrin keeps scrapping at point-blank range against Chrom’s jab, nair, and fast sword pressure, because that is exactly where Chrom’s tempo becomes hardest to interrupt.
The win condition is to stop the grounded dash first with pin and tipper spacing, then meet jumps and overextensions with fair, uair, and grab so Chrom gets pushed outward before he can start looping pressure.
The table shows that jab, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Dash Attack, every smash attack, Neutral B, Side B, and Up B can all be punished on shield by nair, grab, uair, fair, Up Smash, and more. Down Tilt plus Chrom’s safer aerials are different, so those should be followed into landings and recoveries instead of forced into immediate shield punishes.
For kills, do not rely only on center-stage guesses. Keep trapping landings from above and, once Chrom is offstage, actively threaten fair, dair, or pin against the narrow Up B route until the stock is closed.

Win Condition Checklist

  • Use pin and tipper spacing to slow Chrom’s grounded dash before he reaches point-blank range.
  • When you block jab, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Dash Attack, the smash attacks, Neutral B, Side B, or Up B, punish with the OOS routes from the table.
  • Treat Down Tilt and Chrom’s safer aerials as tracking situations, not automatic shield-punish chances.
  • Once Chrom is launched, keep the pressure with uair and ledge carry instead of resetting to center too early.
  • When he is forced to Up B back, commit to a fair, dair, or pin coverage plan and make the thin recovery path matter.

Actions to Avoid

  • Taking repeated close-range trades against jab and nair where Chrom’s frame speed is strongest.
  • Swinging after every blocked Down Tilt or safe aerial and giving Chrom another entry.
  • Walking too far into close quarters and throwing away Corrin’s spacing advantage.
  • Letting Chrom recover for free because you settled for a passive ledge trap every time.
  • Fishing with raw smash attacks in center and playing directly into Chrom’s punish game.
