Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)
This matchup gets worse if Peach keeps trying to run straight through Gordo and Dedede bair, because that is exactly how the game turns into Dedede’s ledge-heavy slugfest. Peach gets more from changing float height and turnip angle until Dedede swings first, then entering the gap before the hammer can come back around.
Once Peach gets in, Dedede’s huge hurtbox and slow defensive reset line up perfectly for extended combo and juggle pressure. Nair, float fair, and grab should not be treated as isolated hits here; they are the start of another launch before Dedede can re-establish the wall.
The frame table shows jab strings, ftilt, utilt, dtilt, dash attack, every smash attack, side B, up B, and down B are all clearly punishable with Up B (7f) or OOS Nair (8f). By contrast, nair gives no punish and bair often gives only Up B, so shield alone does not solve the matchup unless the spacing is already bad for Dedede.
The reliable kill path is to keep Dedede cornered, cover the jump, roll, and Super Dedede Jump landing, and finish after the repeated advantage has already been built. Holding the ledge state is itself the win condition.

Win Condition Checklist
- Do not challenge Gordo head-on every time. Use float height and turnip routing to change the return angle and make Dedede swing first.
- After blocking Jab 1-2, Rapid Jab Finisher, ftilt, utilt, dtilt, dash attack, any smash attack, side B, up B, or down B, punish with Up B (7f) or OOS Nair (8f) so Dedede’s heavy buttons stop feeling free.
- Treat nair and bair as positioning checks, not guaranteed swing-back spots. Cover the landing and retreat with float fair, nair, or grab and win the second touch instead.
- After the first opening, keep the combo and juggle running against Dedede’s large body instead of rushing for an early kill.
- Stay in range to cover Super Dedede Jump landing and standard ledge options together so Gordo and bair never get reset on comfortable timing.
Actions to Avoid
- Dashing directly into Gordo and bair and handing Dedede the exact corner brawl he wants.
- Hunting only for single kill moves because Dedede is heavy, while abandoning the repeated damage sequence Peach should be winning.
- Whiffing punish attempts after every blocked nair or bair and letting Dedede rebuild the wall for free.
- Chasing too deep offstage and giving up the stage control that makes Dedede’s landing and ledge recovery manageable.
