Rosalina and Luma vs Kazuya

Kazuya Matchup (Rosalina and Luma)

Rosalina and Luma vs Kazuya

Rosalina and Luma vs Kazuya is about keeping Luma in front to break up crouch dash entries, then turning each stopped approach into juggle and ledge pressure before one touch flips the stock.

Matchup Summary (Win Condition and Game Plan)

This matchup becomes terrifying the moment Kazuya gets to ignore Luma and touch Rosalina directly. Rosalina herself is too fragile to accept repeated close-range guesses here, so the structure has to begin with Luma placed in front, while Rosalina stays a little farther back and adds fair, uair, and projectiles to the same lane.
Kazuya is devastating once he gets in, but he is still uncomfortable dealing with layered long-range interference and two bodies controlling the entry path at once. That means Rosalina and Luma usually gain more from repeatedly denying the approach than from trying to counter-scramble after he is already in range. The one big exception is when Luma is gone, because then the whole game changes and stalling safely for resummon becomes the priority.
The frame table shows Kazuya’s jab strings, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Down Tilt, Dash Attack, every smash attack, and Up B all give Rosalina strong shield punishes through Up Smash (8f), OOS Uair (9f), or Grab/OOS Nair (10f). But those punish windows only matter if the formation is intact first, because Kazuya’s real pressure comes from reaching Rosalina’s body before the shield situation even happens.
Kills are more repeatable when Rosalina and Luma keep Kazuya above them with uair and then convert that into ledge control with layered coverage from both bodies. Letting the juggle end too early or fighting recklessly while Luma is gone is what usually gives Kazuya the reversal he is looking for.

Win Condition Checklist

  • Keep Luma in front and Rosalina slightly behind, layering fair, uair, and projectiles so Kazuya’s crouch dash has to pass through multiple checks before reaching Rosalina.
  • After blocking Kazuya’s jab strings, Forward Tilt, Up Tilt, Down Tilt, Dash Attack, any smash attack, or Up B, take the listed punish with Up Smash (8f), OOS Uair (9f), or Grab/OOS Nair (10f).
  • Do not chase punish damage so hard that the Rosalina-Luma spacing collapses and Kazuya gets a direct line to Rosalina’s body.
  • Once Kazuya is above you, keep him there with uair and carry the pressure to ledge instead of resetting to midrange.
  • If Luma is lost, switch immediately to safe movement and resummon management instead of forcing an equal scramble.

Actions to Avoid

  • Advancing with Rosalina alone and giving Kazuya a clean crouch dash route straight into the main body.
  • Overcommitting to close-range punishes until the Rosalina-Luma formation breaks and the next touch turns into a full Kazuya combo.
  • Fighting too hard right after Luma is gone and widening the disadvantage before resummon is even available.
  • Ending the juggle too early and sending Kazuya back to center where he can restart the close-range threat.
